or homesteaded 126.72 acres on 20 Oct 1854 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. The property is described as Lot #6 & E 1/2
of SW 1/4 of Section 14, T18N, R7E. It is located about five miles north of Rayville, Louisiana on the west side of Boeuf
River. He sold the above 126.72 acres on 25 Oct 1854.51 He sold the property to a Mr. Dyer for $340.80. He probably
continued to live on the property and sharecrop for Mr. Dyer. He purchased the above 126.72 acres of land on 4 Jan 1856.
They essentially swapped the slave for the land. He sold a slave for $1000 on 4 Jan 1856.53 Jeremiah and his wife, Elizabeth
      C. Hearthcock, sold an 18 year old male slave. The slave probably belonged to Elizabeth. He died on 10 Aug 1858 in
Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. He purchased or homesteaded 153.84 acres on 10 Nov 1874 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana.
This property may have been homesteaded years earlier but ownership was not transfered until 1874, long after his death.
