      Listed on tithables of Orange Co., Virginia on 24 Aug 1749 along with
      Robert.
      Witnessed a deed of Wm. Eddins of Orange Co., Virginia to Shurley
      Whatley of St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co., Virginia in 1735.
      Lived in Orange; Cumberland; and Bedford Co's., in Virginia.
      Valentine Corley, "in the decline of life," made his 'Will' on 10
      Nov 1801; the 'Will' was proved on 24 Jan 1803; the appraisal of his
      estate was made on 28 Mar 1803. To his wife Sarah he left all stock,
      furniture etc. and four negroes: Betty, Rose, David & Sarah for life. He
      named son William; Sally Brown (no relationship stated); daughters
      Aggathy Simmons, Ann Pigg, Milly Anglia and Mary Duffer. One shilling
      sterling each was devised to Pearce Butler, George Brown ., James
      Corley's children, and granddaughter Sally Brown. Negroes Betty, Rose
      and Sarah were to be divided between his four daughters after his wife's
      decease and any increase to be divided between sons Caniel, William, and
      Asa Corley. Son William was to be executor, but if he would not serve,
      Edmund Duffy, Francis Vaughn and Robert Anglia were to serve. Asa
      Corley, Elijah Corley and Elizabeth Corley, witnesses, proved the will on
      24 jan 1803, and on the motion of Edmund Duffer and Bartlet Anglia,
      certificate for probate was granted them. The appraisal of his estate
      was made on 28 March 1803 and included eight slaves and furniture for a
      total value of f491:01:06.
