      Probably born in Lauderdale County. Enrolled in the Moddy True
      Blues, later Captain Chandler's Company, Company D, 8th Mississippi
      Infantry, on 17 July 1861 at Enterprise, Mississippi. Discharged 25
      September 1861. Reenlisted again into Company E, 7th Battalion
      Mississippi Infantry 20 April 1862 in Clarke County. Absent without
      leave 17 December 1862 and declared a deserter. In Clarke County
      records for 1876 and 1877. At Enterprise, Mississippi, between 1878
      and 1883. Three step-children Lizzie McGraw, Martha Johnson, and
      Alonzo Obey.

      Upchurch 35 Mississippi, with (all born Mississippi) Almita 30,
      Lucinda 14, and Eddie 3. Also in household are step-daughter Lizzie
