      James Jones came to Camden County when about grown. He is found on the 1794 tax digest of that county. On May 2, 1804, he was commissioned lieutenant of the militia in the 28th District, Camden County. Isham Walker and his wife, Civility were residents of Camden County about the same time.The Walkers and Jones families lived in the western portion of Camden County territory now in Charlton and Brantley counties, also lived a short while over in Glynn County. James Jones and his family also lived a short while over in Nassau County, Florida. Soon after the formation of Ware County in 1825 he movedto that county (portion now in Brantley County) and record is found of his commission as ensign in the 590th district of Ware County Nov. 22, 1825, and 2nd Lieut. in same militia district May 16, 1832. Mr. Jones lived a short time in Wayne County, where he was Justice of Peace of the 28th District, 1811-12. Thisdistrict was formerly in Camden but was annexed to Wayne and is now in Brantley. He served as one of the Justices of Inferior Court in Ware County, 1827-29. Record is found of a James Jones elected one of the first Appling County Justices in 1820, but this is thought to have been another James Jones who married a daughter of William Smith, R. S., of Ware County. The two James Jones were not related.

      Was in Appling Co. in 1820 census, from which came Ware County. Lived in Camden Co. in 1803. On Glynn County petit jury in 1806, along with his brother-in-law Isham Walker. Lived in Camden Co. in 1814. Lived in 23rd district which became Wayne County 11 NOV 1815. Now the portion is in Brantley County.

      James Jones commissionedLieutenent of Militia of 28 Dist. of Camden, GA. Was Deacon in 1822, ordained in 1823, was in 598th dist. History of Ware Co., p 411, being commissioned ensign 22 NOV 1827, in 586th dist. 2 May 1827; in 590th dist 16 May 1832 34m 2nd Lieutenent.
      Licensed to preach in 1834 at Pigeon Creek Prim. Bapt. Church acrossthe St. Marys' river that divides GA-FL Pigeon Creek Church in Nassau County near Hillard, FL.

      Captain in Ware Co. Clerk of High Bluff Prim. Bapt. Chuirch1835 Co. Militia 1840. In 1853 James Jones constituted the New Hope Prim. Bapt. Church in Hickox, GA,
