      Jean,
Since you;re the only one I've ever contacted about aaron, I'll keep it this way. I've got some new developments you should know about. Awhile back I made contact with a Beck researcher. Well, to make a long story short, he said the Martha Beck, who was married to Aaron couldn't be the one that was the sister to Mary Ann & Fanny (they were married to Aaron's brothers). That Martha Beck was married to Samuel W. Hudson II. Samuel is my gg grandfather's brother. Well this really through me a loop. Well, after some checkingI found this to be true. The info I gave you I did give in good faith, my grandmother always swore by this. Anyway, I ended up doing quite a bit of research on Aaron and this is what I found.
Aaron James Higginbotham born Sept. 27, 1832 in Alachua Co., FL and died April 3, 1910 in Williston, Levy County FL (death occurred in Williston according to his pension papers) and official records have his burial in Pine Grove Cem. in Trenton. I'm sure Aaron's wife, Mary, and children died prior to 1870

On 7/8/61 he enlisted at Fernandina (Jacksonville) in F: 2nd Inf. Co. K (on roster) HIGGENBOTHAM AARON P 13JUL61
and later transferred to Co. G (on roster) because of wounds.
      HIGGINBOTHAM AARON P 13JUL61 9APR65
He was discharged 9/10/62. He is on record as being 6 ft., datk skin& Hair, grey eyes, occupation: farmer. He did say he had been in 3 major battles, one of which was Bull Run. Think this was the 2nd Manasses if I'm not mistaken and occurred in Aug of 1862. He enlisted 12/24/62 "when he got to feeling better" in Co., A, 9th FL Inf at Bayport, Hernando County, Florida. on Feb. 15, 1863 his arm was amputated between right elbow & shoulder. This was as he stated "from a cannon ball bursting beside him". On 4/26/63 he was discharged by surgeon's certificate at Bayport. Despite this, he was listed as absent on all rolls and listed as AWOL, since 10/5/64. I do know because of being shot in the right leg twice, this leg was 6 inches shorter and he was nearly blind.

In 1870 he married Martha E. McEwen in Alachua County, Florida. I don't havethe exact date. She was born Jan. 22, 1846 in Benton now Calhoun County, Alabama. Her parents were John M. McEwen and Mary Caroline Rutherford, both were born in GA. Aaron and Martha only had 1 child and her name was Georganna LenoraHigginbotham. She was born April 19, 1872 in Chi
